Feature · Prayer Lock

Block distractions until you pray

Choose the apps, sites, or categories that steal your attention. Sacred Scrolls uses Apple's Screen Time framework to shield them until you complete the devotional rule you set.

What Prayer Lock is

Prayer Lock is a devotional use of Apple's Screen Time controls. Instead of trying to win a willpower contest against apps designed to be opened without thinking, you choose what should be shielded and what act of prayer should reopen it.

The default rule is simple: selected apps stay blocked until you complete one prayer in Sacred Scrolls. You can also count any prayer or chapter, require today's program day, increase the daily goal up to five completions, and choose whether unlock lasts 15 minutes, one hour, or the rest of the day.

This is a Pro feature because it has to be reliable. The app persists the rule, the Device Activity extension re-applies shields at day rollover or custom window boundaries, and the emergency off-switch stays in Settings.

How it works

  1. 1

    Approve Screen Time access

iOS shows Apple's Family Controls permission sheet. Sacred Scrolls asks for the system capability that lets your own device shield selected apps.

  2. 2

    Choose what gets shielded

Use the native picker to select apps, app categories, or websites. You can change the selection later, or disable Prayer Lock entirely.

  3. 3

    Pray, read, then unlock

Finish the rule you chose. Sacred Scrolls clears the shield for the duration you set, then re-applies it when the window ends.

Rules you control

Trigger

Prayer, chapter, or program day

Unlock from prayer only, any devotional action, or completing today's program.

Goal

One to five completions

Keep it light with one prayer, or require a deeper daily commitment.

Duration

15 minutes to rest of day

Open a short break, an hour, or the rest of the day after prayer.

Schedule

Always or custom windows

Use it all day, or only during the hours when you tend to drift.

Built on Apple frameworks

Native shielding, not a fake blocker

Prayer Lock is backed by FamilyControls for app selection, ManagedSettings for the shield, and DeviceActivity for daily rollover, custom windows, and timed re-locking. If Sacred Scrolls is not open, the extension still knows when to re-apply the shield.

  • Apple's app picker
  • Shield apps, categories, and web domains
  • Daily reset and one-shot unlock timers
  • Pro lapse clears the shield automatically
