Scripture on your home screen
Four widget styles for the home screen, lock screen, and StandBy. A daily verse, today’s chapter, your reading progress, and the day’s prayer — surfaced before you ever open the app.
What the widgets do
A widget is a small surface — a square or a rectangle on your home screen, a rounded shape on your lock screen — that updates throughout the day without you opening the app. Sacred Scrolls ships four of them, each tuned for a specific moment: the morning glance, the in-between minute, the long sit, the evening prayer.
The widgets are real iOS widgets, written natively. They respect your Dynamic Type setting, switch automatically between light and dark, and localize to all seven supported languages. The chapter art renders sharply on every screen size, including the tiny circular complication on the lock screen.
One detail worth calling out: when you start an audio narration the app registers a Live Activity. The chapter title, current verse, and play controls live on the lock screen and Dynamic Island until you stop or finish — the same pattern as the iOS Music app, scoped for Scripture.
How it works
- 1
Long-press your home screen
Tap the “+” button in the top-left corner. Search for Sacred Scrolls in the widget gallery.
- 2
Pick a size
Small, medium, large, and lock-screen variants are offered. Add as many as you like — different sizes can show different content.
- 3
Tap to open in context
Tapping the verse opens the chapter at that verse. Tapping the prayer widget opens the prayer at the right step. Tapping the chapter opens the reader. No back-tapping out of the wrong screen.
