Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Sacred Scrolls ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Sacred Scrolls is a Catholic Bible reading application that provides access to the Douay-Rheims translation of the Bible, audio narration, an AI-powered study companion, a knowledge graph explorer, and a church finder. The App is designed for personal, non-commercial use.

User Accounts

Some features require an account through Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it as needed.

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon deletion, your account data will be removed from our servers.

Free and Premium Features

The App offers both free and premium features:

  • Free: Full Bible text reading, basic navigation, church finder, and daily verse widgets.
  • Sacred Scrolls Pro: Unlimited AI chat, full audio narration library, and additional premium features available through a subscription.

Subscriptions and Payments

  • Sacred Scrolls Pro is available as a monthly ($4.99/month) or yearly ($39.99/year) auto-renewing subscription.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price.
  • You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.
  • No refunds will be provided for the unused portion of a subscription period. Refund requests should be directed to Apple.

AI Chat Feature

The AI study companion is designed to assist with Bible study and provide Catholic-informed responses. Please note:

  • AI responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may not always be perfectly accurate.
  • The AI is not a substitute for official Church teaching, pastoral guidance, or theological counsel.
  • We do not guarantee the theological accuracy of AI-generated content.
  • Chat messages are processed by third-party AI services (OpenAI) subject to their usage policies.
  • Do not share sensitive personal information in the chat.

Bible Text

The Douay-Rheims translation included in Sacred Scrolls is in the public domain. The presentation, formatting, annotations, knowledge graph content, and wiki articles are original work and remain the intellectual property of Sacred Scrolls.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
  • Use automated systems to access the App or its API in a manner that exceeds reasonable personal use.
  • Redistribute, resell, or sublicense any content from the App.
  • Use the AI chat to generate content that is hateful, harmful, or misleading.

Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, graphics, audio narrations, knowledge graph data, wiki content, and software, is owned by Sacred Scrolls and protected by intellectual property laws. The Sacred Scrolls name and logo are our trademarks.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sacred Scrolls shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated content.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes through the App or by updating the date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
